The Woodpeckers Studio was established in the year 2003 by our founder Ar. Sonal Patel. With more than 25 years of experience in the field of architecture and furniture design, she is the driving force for the company.
Ar. Vatsal Patel and Ar. Aishwarya Patel, after graduating in 2018, work now as the second generation in expanding the firm. They have started with various verticals in order to give an integrated design in the field of architecture, interior and landscape.

At Woodpeckers Studio, we do various scale and typology of projects ranging from small houses to urban housing to city level urban inserts. Our unique and integrated design solutions for the built environment in the field of architecture, interior and landscape helps us deliver us better in all our projects. Our designs are a perfect blend of functionality and aesthetics.

A brief look at how the studio has grown—from a single practice in Ahmedabad to an integrated architecture, interior, and landscape team.
THE START
The Woodpeckers Studio was established in 2003 by Ar. Sonal Patel in Ahmedabad. With more than 25 years of experience in architecture and furniture design, she set out to build a practice grounded in detail, functionality, and timeless aesthetics.
2003 – FOUNDING IN AHMEDABAD
In its early years, the studio focused on residential architecture and bespoke furniture design. A hands-on approach to materials and craft helped establish a reputation for thoughtful spaces tailored to each client.
2010–2018
The practice grew across scales and typologies—from intimate homes to larger residential and commercial work. Projects increasingly combined architecture and interiors, with an emphasis on context, light, and livability.
2018 – SECOND GENERATION
Ar. Vatsal Patel and Ar. Aishwarya Patel joined the firm after graduating from Anant Institute of Architecture, Ahmedabad. As the second generation, they brought fresh perspective while carrying forward the studio’s design ethos.
2018–2021
New verticals in architecture, interior, and landscape were introduced to deliver integrated design under one roof. Collaboration with artists and specialists became central to exploring unique solutions for every project.
2021–TODAY
Woodpeckers Studio continues to work across residential, urban housing, and city-level urban inserts in Ahmedabad and beyond. The team remains committed to blending functionality and aesthetics in every built environment.

Ar. Sonal Patel
Founder & Principal Architect
The Woodpeckers Studio was established in the year 2003 by our Founder Ar. Sonal Patel with more than 25 years of experience in the field of architecture and interior design, she is the driving force for the company.She did her Diploma from Girls Polytechnic ,Ahmedabad followed by a Bachelors degree from IIA.Her eye for perfection and quest for exploring new things, challenges us as a company to deliver better in all our projects.
Her experience helps in managing project's budgets as well as delivering projects as per timeline.
Ar. Vatsal Patel
Architect
Ar.Vatsal Patel, is an alumni of Anant Institute of Architecture, Ahmedabad.
After his graduation in 2018,he joined as the second generation to the firm. He focuses on expanding the horizon.He works as a Senior architect since 2018 and leads architecture and interior projects from conceptualisation to execution. He believes our culture and history has lot to offer .He believes that there are endless possibilities and solutions for any design problem.He always aims at finding the most unique and explicit one.
Ar. Aishwarya Bhanushali
Senior Architect
Ar. Aishwarya Patel, is an alumni of Anant Institute of Architecture, Ahmedabad.
She works as a Senior Architect at the studio, since 2021 on various architecture and landscape projects. Previously, she worked with VPA Architects, polishing and exploring her interest in landscape designing.
She believes that nature is one of the greatest source and inspiration we can learn from. As a designer, she always tries to enhance the existing architecture language by adding various elements of landscape design, thereby blending outdoors with the indoors.

Ar. Tanvi Suthar
Architect
She is an architect involved in handling architecture projects, from conceptual design to 3D modeling to detailing phases and execution.
A graduate of Arvindbhai Patel Institute of Environmental Design (APIED), Vallabh Vidyanagar. Her interests go beyond the principles of functionality and deliberate usage. Her work spans various scales of living environments, from residence to larger collective spaces like apartments and beyond.
She believes in process-driven approach as well as detailing and material exploration to achieve seamless harmony between a building's purpose and its physical execution.
Harshi Panchal
Interior Designer
She is an Interior Designer who brings a dynamic and highly creative approach to our design team.
A graduate of Anant National University, she specializes in the foundational stages of design, focusing on detailed concept sketching and spatial planning. Harshi has a distinct passion for developing fluid, curved layouts that move beyond rigid structures, ensuring each space is both innovative and functionally seamless. Her dedication to blending aesthetic elegance with practical flow allows her to consistently deliver engaging, highly personalized environments from the initial sketch to the final design.
Jayram Chaudhary
Interior Designer
Jayram Chaudhary is an interior designer and a graduate of the Amor Design Institute.
He specializes in spatial conceptualization, using concept sketching to bring ideas to life. By thoughtfully working with lines and curves, Jayram defines structure, flow, and perspective within the interiors. His approach balances fluid creativity with functional precision, transforming blank spaces into beautifully articulated environments.
Ar. Shivam Dongre
Architect
Ar. Shivam Dongre is an Architect who graduated in 2024 from the School of Architecture, IPS Academy, Indore. He has professional experience in landscape architecture, project coordination, and site execution, with a strong focus on delivering functional and visually engaging environments.
His expertise includes landscape design development, client and vendor coordination, 3D visualization and render coordination, and on-site project management. He works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless communication, efficient project execution, and high-quality outcomes from concept through completion.
With a detail-oriented approach and a passion for design, Shivam is committed to creating sustainable and user-centric spaces while continuously expanding his knowledge and professional capabilities.
